MP3toMIDI

An experiment in turning songs into MIDI

Description

I wondered whether I could split a real song into stems and turn it into a decent MIDI file. So far the results are interesting but nowhere near good. The files tend to be too busy to be enjoyable. The original song is usually recognisable though.

It runs on your device after downloading a few models and a soundfont. Conversions take ten minutes or more on a midrange device. You can use it as is if you like but you have been warned.

  • Split songs into six stems with Demucs
  • Detect notes and chords with Basic Pitch
  • Find drum hits and estimate tempo
  • Guess the instrument for each stem
  • Read MP3 and other audio formats Android can play
  • Review instruments and note counts before export
  • Keep converting in the background
  • Built-in MIDI player with your own soundfonts

  • Build your own karts from nearly 200 parts
  • Stock karts and bikes to start from

  • Time trials and practice runs
  • Track editor and custom tournaments
  • Share tracks and cups as files
  • Split screen and network multiplayer

It's weird how hard it is to find a good, current, featureful, and free SSH client for Android. Here's one.

Whelk started as a replacement for JuiceSSH. It also does Mosh and Telnet. You can use it for USB and Bluetooth serial consoles too. I've added an SFTP browser and support for security keys.

  • SSH and Mosh connections with Telnet too
  • USB and Bluetooth serial consoles
  • Saved connections and identities organised into groups
  • Jump hosts and proxies
  • SFTP browser and port forwarding
  • Certificates and security keys with agent forwarding
  • Searchable scrollback and a customisable extra keys row
  • Encrypted backups and sync through a folder
