midiTracker
midiTracker is an alternate firmware for the picoTracker v2 PCB kit.
You can order your own from xiphonics here.
It turns the device into a MIDI/SySex/tracker file player, a MIDI/SySex recorder, and a 4 track MIDI looper..
Player
Play standard ‘.mid’ files, type 0 or 1, over TRS or USB MIDI or using an internal multitimbral synth I’ve named pariSynth. Files are streamed from SD, can be paused/resumed/scrubbed through, and can have their tempo adjusted.
It also plays uncompress .wav files, as well as a few tracker modules - .mod, .s3m, .xm. Tracker module support is experimental but my results have been quite good so far.
Recorder
Record both MIDI and SysEx, over TRS or USB, directly to the SD card. MIDI is written as a type 0 .mid file and SysEx is written to standard .syx.
Record MIDI notes, CCs, inline SySex commands from almost anything and play it back later. Record SysEx backups, patches, system configuration, etc.
Looper
Loop up to 4 MIDI tracks of variable lengths, freeform or set to a certain number of bars. Play loops independantly or in sync with each other. A metronome is available to help you keep time when recording.
Check out my midiTracker repository for more details on how to load and use midiTracker on your picoTracker hardware. I have attached the current (for today) version 0.5.1 uf2 and source here but there may be a newer version available there.
